Make sure when you are submitting CDs or tapes to radio stations to have the name of your band, the website, and way to contact you, and especially for college radio stations, if you are local. This is one of the many things that was covered in this workshop. Also, other topics that were covered were tax laws around being an artist, choosing a recording studio, the value of doing your recordings at various studios with different quality levels and expenses, how to approach getting your CD to radio stations and record labels, best ways to promote yourself, and find and connect with venues and shows. Musicians were encouraged to play as much as possible in as many places as possible.
One thing of the many things that made me happy at the workshop - we had this 18 year old boy - ripped shirt with a CD in a newspaper made cover, that got to give it to the KUSF music director and a rep from Alternative Tentacles - he was so happy - it was cool. It made me happy.
